Edamame Hummus Recipe (Easy + Delicious)

Made with soybeans, tahini, and lemon juice, this edamame hummus is a bright and fresh take on the classic—use it as an appetizer, side, or dip for veggies and pita!

If you know me, you’re probably aware that I’m a hummus fiend—I can find a way to put that stuff on literally anything. Recently, I’ve gotten into trying different hummus variations (like this edamame version), and they’re a game-changer. Not only is this recipe super easy, but it’s incredibly delicious and makes for the perfect side dish!

What is Hummus?

Traditionally, hummus is a Middle-Eastern dip made from chickpeas and tahini. However, this recipe swaps out the chickpeas for edamame, giving it a brighter taste and extra boost of protein. Both variations are delicious, in my opinion—if you want to try making the classic, check out my in-depth hummus post here!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Frozen shelled edamame.
  • Tahini.
  • Lemon juice.
  • Olive oil.
  • Garlic.
  • Cumin and coriander.
  • Salt and pepper.
  • Water.

How to Serve Edamame Hummus?

  • As a side dish or appetizer. Serve it with pita, veggies, and chips to level up your snack board.
  • Use as a spread. Personally, I love to use edamame hummus on sandwiches and breakfast toast.
  • On salmon bowls.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces frozen shelled edamame
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • 3-4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon coriander
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Cook the edamame per the instructions and set aside to cool.
  • Once cooled, add the edamame to the bowl of a high-speed food processor with all the other ingredients EXCEPT the water. Bend until smooth, then add the water little by little to thin out the hummus as needed (you may need more or less).
  • Taste the hummus to check for seasoning, adding more lemon juice or olive oil as needed. To serve, spoon the hummus onto a bowl or platter, using a spoon to make a swoop in the center of the dish. Garnish with olive oil before serving.
